OAAI Governmental Affairs Program

OAAI serves as the eyes, ears and voice for Illinois outdoor advertising companies with local, state, and federal governmental bodies.  The OAAI Governmental Affairs staff monitors, develops, and protects the interests of its constituencies within the association of developments which may arise.

OAAI serves as the focal point for the association's efforts to inform policymakers about the outdoor advertising industry's views on issues and to influence the outcome of state and federal policy decisions.  This includes testimony and policy letters , circulation of position papers and meetings with members of the Illinois General Assembly, Congress, and their staffs. OAAI also maintains a grassroots lobbying effort and distributes periodic alerts on pressing issues within the industry which call for immediate action.  Through OAAI's Legislative Clearinghouse, staff tracks important state and federal legislative developments and provides a regular overview of these developments to the members of the association. This includes providing bill status information, assisting members with obtaining copies of bills, congressional reports and other governmental publications.
